Students will analyze photos for specific details that reveal the owner of a specific room.Then the analysis will include literature but will focus on literary devices and connotations.Also, students will have the opportunity to summarize text and then use evidence to support specific connotations.

Introduction to the history of Rapa Nui and Polynesia (~7,300 words) for middle and high school students.

How does the media influence peoples’ opinion of the government during a national crisis? Students will read several articles on a current (or historical) national crisis and write an argumentative essay analyzing how the media influences the opinion of the people toward the government during a national crisis using relevant evidence from both current and historical resources.

Grade Level is 7.6 using the Flesch-Kincaid readability test.

Mary McLeod Bethune was the fifteenth child of hardworking and god fearing parents. She was the first of their children to be born free. Her ancestry was wholly of African origin, a point of pride throughout her life.

Mrs. Bethune worked untiringly to restore—through education—her people's faith in the magnificent heritage that is rightfully theirs. During the many years of and tribulation, she refused to give up her fondest dream—her own school for Negro children. And, as a shining monument to her hard work and faith, she has given to black youth the thriving institution of Bethune- Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida.

When developing gender-responsive learning environment through the project, we will try to provide a complete and holistic picture of each unique situation as it relates to women, girls, men and boys.
While there are many gender-based barriers to education—socio-economic, cultural, and institutional—the project will focus on practical tools that individual teachers, directors, educators can put to immediate use in their classrooms, organization or even workplace. It addition, it contains key definitions related to gender and education, references to international commitments to gender equality in education, and a list of supplementary online resources and suggested reading materials.
We hope that this project will help to raise awareness, spark discussions, and encourage sensitive and productive learning environments for students of all genders and stages.

The Preamble is the introduction to the United States Constitution, and it serves two central purposes. First, it states the source from which the Constitution derives its authority: the sovereign people of the United States. Second, it sets forth the ends that the Constitution and the government that it establishes are meant to serve.

 This inquiry unit leads students through the different perspectives behind a decision to have a dam removed. This unit looks at similar Washington state dam removal decisions as well as the complex issue of having the Election dam removed near Puyallup, WA. Students will be introduced to the stories and traditional ways of knowing about salmon that the Puyallup Tribe has built their culture upon. Then they will explore the science behind hydroelectricity and build models to discover how carbon neutral energy is gathered through hydro dams. This inquiry unit ends with students researching different perspectives surrounding the current (2021) decision to remove the Electron dam including: the Tribe’s Fishery department, the ecosystem, the city council, the fishermen and the hydro-electrical company who currently owns the dam. With their research, students will do a socratic seminar to mimic the court case lawsuit that is ongoing against the Electron Dam. 

This lesson can work with any content standards.  It is a lesson for students to learn a text marking procedure.  Teachers and students can apply it to any non-fiction text on any non-fiction topic.  Extensions include academic speaking and writing prompts.
