Catan: Global Warming

Educational Use
Rating
0.0 stars

This game is an expansion on the popular board game Catan, it adapts the regular Catan game to become a game about sustainability and climate change. It's a neat idea, but teachers must already own the game and know how to play it.

This game-based learning would be great for after-school activities, environmental clubs, or a 'free' period in school. The amount of setup needed to get the game going and explain the rules may be too involved for regular classroom use.

Cell Vocabulary Review Game
Read the Fine Print
Rating
0.0 stars

This game helps students to enjoy reviewing vocabulary related to cells, organelles, and the plasma membrane. Each card in the deck has a target vocabulary word and two related taboo words that the student may not use when giving clues so the other students in his or her small group can guess the target word. Many students have trouble learning the substantial new vocabulary required for biology, and this game lets students have fun while reinforcing their understanding of key terms.

Claims, Reasons, Evidence - "I'm a Survivor" Hero of the Zombie Apocalypse
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted

Rating

This is a scaffolded group/collaborative activity within a unit of study on persuasive writing. Students would have already learned what claims, reasons, and evidence are in a previous lesson before participating in this activity. As a group of 4-5 students work together, they will decide which resources would be best to survive a zombie apocalypse. They would then need to compose statements of claim and reasoning for those items and complete some research as well. There is an option to allow students to create posters to present to the class as their final assignment.

Ziel ist es, neue Benutzerschnittstellen für den Computer zu entwickeln, indem die TeilnehmerInnen einen Blick "unter die Motorhaube" einer USB-Tastatur werfen. So können Jugendliche im Alter von 13 - 17 Jahren erste Schritte im kreativen Umgang mit Elektronik machen und dabei viel Spaß haben.

Voraussetzungen sind lediglich die Freude am Experimentieren und die Neugier, technologische Grundlagen spielerisch zu erlernen.
