A breif guideline on a Problem based 5 part thesis. Outlines the synthesis of a real-world problem based argument that aims to impart a solution with relevance and urgency.   

This OER explores the basic organization of the Pythagorean Solids. It contains both an activity as well as resources for further exploration. It is a product of the OU Academy of the Lynx, developed in conjunction with the Galileo's World Exhibition at the University of Oklahoma.

This is a simple lesson to introduce the 5 Themes of Geography to your students.

Case studies are mostly used in academic and business contexts. For students, writing a case study can be a difficult task especially if they have no clue on where to start. Case studies are written to elaborate an already existing issue that had been researched on further.

In this unit students will build and construct an understanding of how matter and organisms interact creating change in our biosphere and in turn affect all types of ecosystems. Then using these skills and content they will be able to communicate, model and create solutions to phenomena, environmental emergencies or concerns. environmental concerns or endangered organisms.

This lesson uses tall tale read alouds to reinforce the common elements, or text structure, of tall tales. As the text is read aloud, students examine the elements of the book that are characteristic of tall tales. Then using what they've learned, they write and perform tall tales of their own.

This is a fun introductory writing piece for 7-12 students to help teachers get to know the individuals in their class. This writing lesson was created by Janelle Coady as part of the 2020 OER English Language Arts Workshop by NDE. It is expected that this plan will take students one class period to complete.

The purpose of this template is to allow the user to unpack the 7th grade visual art National Core Arts Standards (NCAS) into task-specific or task-neutral learning targets that then can be used during instruction and/or within an assessment tool like a rubric.

The Unpacking Process:
1. Take a look at the performance standard (7th grade) and pull out the nouns, or what students need to know.
2. Next pull out what students need to be able to do (the verbs).
3. Write learning targets or I can statements. When writing ask yourself, “What does this look like in student work?”

This assignment is intended to encourage students to explore relevant jobs in the Information Technology arena post the completion of their A.A.S degree.

This course introduces the methodology for group counseling and includes strategies for group development and for effective group leader facilitation. This course emphasizes the skills required to be an effective group counselor. Students will gain basic knowledge of what forms a group, and then learn how to run groups that foster positive interactions. Students will learn the different types of groups but practice specializing in the facilitation of psychoeducational and process groups.

This resource includes traditional writing prompts as well as prompts and assignments that utilize AI-generated text. It covers the fields of Creative Writing, Composition, and Business and Technical Writing. 

This assignment is about exploring alternative ways of sharing goods and services and understanding the benefits, drawbacks, and implications of these methods. Students are asked to choose one of seven non-market distribution methods, such as majority rule, contests, force, first-come/first-served, sharing equally, lottery, and personal characteristics, and observe how it is implemented in real-life scenarios. They need to explain the distribution method, who benefits from it, who is excluded, and the advantages and disadvantages of using it. Students also have to find a real-life example of the chosen non-market distribution method, describe how it is used, and assess its fairness and efficiency. Lastly, they are required to include a citation and ensure their submission is no less than 180 words and comprises a list of cited works. The goal of the assignment is to better understand how goods and services are distributed and how these methods affect different groups of people.

In this class, we will explore America's diversity through questions of immigration, race, gender/sexuality and class--some of the major ways our culture is organized. It is comprised of 9 lessons based on online resources, plus 2 auto-ethnography assignments. This class was originally taught by Huma Mohibullah at Renton Technical College. 

Fieldwork 1: How we communicate through gender role socialization and child rearing. Observation of gender role socialization and child rearing at an activity or specific place, where it is not a single family gathering or your family. It must be an observation done now and not from memory.

Fieldwork 2: This fieldwork observation focuses on how symbolic capital is deployed in discourse and provides an opportunity to gain greater insight into how language and other nonverbal and symbolic cues communicate gender, ethnicity, values, status and power in subtle ways.
