Outputs or final products: (Does the club have a final product/project to showcase to community?) The final products included many paintings, including a grass landscape, watercolor paintings, an abstract piece and a Halloween inspired piece created by the attendees.

Introducing your Club/Activities: This club is designed for those students who enjoy being creative and learning various painting techniques.

General Directions: Have fun and allow students to use their creativity to paint works of art. Be flexible as students will put their own spin on the planned projects.

Tips/Tricks: Students enjoyed having free time to paint whatever they wanted. It is most successful when few instructions were given, and students got to decide what to add to the paintings. It is recommended that the club is carried out by two or more leaders.

Andrea Mulder-Slater (creator of www.KinderArt.com ) designed this lesson to be
used with children ages 5 and older. However, this lesson can be easily adapted to
work with individuals of all ages as a way of identifying and expressing emotions.
Participants will gain an understanding of how much of a role emotion plays in
art-making as they create paintings based on feelings.

The State Board Adopted Oregon Arts standards provide a guide to what students should be able to know and do in arts courses at specified grade levels.

Oregon adopted new Arts standards in September 2015. Based on the National Core Arts Standards, they contain standards for five discrete disciplines, a glossary for each discipline and supporting materials for the standards.

This document covers Visual Arts, which may include, but is not limited to, drawing, painting, ceramic arts/pottery, sculpture, 2-D design, 3-D design, photography, arts printmaking, graphic arts, textiles, jewelry, and glass arts.

This lesson could be done with most adults and older kids. It is especially good for
elderly women, as many of them have fond memories of sewing and fabric crafts,
yet they can no longer do those crafts due to vision or fine motor impairments.
This project allows them to make something beautiful with fabric that doesn’t
involve any sewing.

This course is an exploration of visual art forms and their cultural connections for the student with little experience in the visual arts. It includes a brief study of art history and in depth studies of the elements, media, and methods used in creative processes and thought. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: interpret examples of visual art using a five-step critical process that includes description, analysis, context, meaning, and judgment; identify and describe the elements and principles of art; use analytical skills to connect formal attributes of art with their meaning and expression; explain the role and effect of the visual arts in societies, history, and other world cultures; articulate the political, social, cultural, and aesthetic themes and issues that artists examine in their work; identify the processes and materials involved in art and architectural production; utilize information to locate, evaluate, and communicate information about visual art in its various forms. Note that this course is an alternative to the Saylor FoundationĺÎĺ_ĺĚĺ_s ARTH101A and has been developed through a partnership with the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges; the Saylor Foundation has modified some WSBCTC materials. Introducing the Art Form of Collage

A Lesson Inspired by Artist and Teacher

Objectives:
1. Share information about the art form of collage.
2. Create a simple collage.
3. Tell a story about the artist who creates the collage.

Audience:
This lesson would be suitable for all ages.

Family Tree (art and character studies)
Children have many family members and pets and friends who are “honorary” family. Have students discuss their family and describe how they look. This project can hold lots of different people. The child needs to put themselves at the top of the tree.

This lesson can also be used for character or historical figures studies.

Abstract
The goal of the club is for students to explore different areas in the visual arts–including drawing, painting, printmaking, and pottery– and gain knowledge about a variety of materials and skills. By the end of club, students will have expanded their knowledge in art history and have learned about the components, elements, and principles of art. At the same time, the projects planned will allow students to apply what they learn to their own creativity and ideas.

This text was compiled, edited, and modified from Boundless Art History and Saylor Academy Art Appreciation and Techniques. It is intended as module reading for an undergraduate level introduction to art. I have uploaded it as individual pdfs to make its inclusion in LMS modules easier but if an educator chose to compress into a single document they would be welcome. Additionally, this is intended as a text that can be modified by educators to satisfy the interests and needs of their own course with only a non-commercial string attached.

This entry-level course is designed to help you gain a general appreciation for art as well as to help you develop a working vocabulary for the knowledgeable analysis of art based on the Visual Elements and the Principles of Design. The syllabus is included in the course and contains the course objectives, student learning outcomes, list of assignments and names of the course textbooks.
