In this section, you and your team will engage in a Landscape Analysis to uncover key structures and supports that can guide your work to support Accessibility in OER. You may or may not answer all of these questions, but this is an offering.

This resource contains all of links and materials for the Accessibility in OER Webinar Five that is co-facilitated by CAST and ISKME.

Think about the diverse learners in your classroom. How do we engage ALL learners in the curriculum content?  In the Accessible Content for All modules, you will learn about Accessible Educational Material (AEM) and tech tools that are hidden in plain sight in your schools.  You will hear teacher accounts of using tools like read-aloud, closed captioning, and translation to increase student engagement.  These modules are self-paced and cover ways to create accessibility within Google, Microsoft, and IOS.  Peruse the modules and explore the topics you want to learn more about.  Create your own learning journey toward building accessibility, equity, and engagement in your classroom.

The resource introduces the audience to the OER Service as well as the university’s efforts to improve the accessibility and inclusivity of its resources. By looking at and together analysing three already published OER (all listed below), learners are taught what points to keep in mind as they are creating their own resources. The resource is available as a video and in transcript format with PowerPoint slides embedded.

This resource is a collaborative effort and was created for Geoscience Outreach students to practice considering the accessibility, inclusivity, and OER suitability of their created resources. It was originally run as a workshop by Open Content Curator Interns Molly Wickett and Alyssa Heggison in 2022, and has now been adapted for sustainable use as a video with accompanying transcript by an Intern August Enger in 2023.

Acquiring the accessible formats a learner needs is part of a multi-step decision-making process. By prioritizing accessibility, access barriers for learners with disabilities will be minimized when materials are acquired. In cases where inaccessible materials have been selected, alternative forms - accessible formats - of those materials will have to be acquired for learners who need them. Examples of accessible formats include audio, braille, large print, tactile graphics, and digital text conforming with accessibility standards.

Action research is a common journey for graduate students in education and other human science fields. This book attempts to meet the needs of graduate students, in-service teachers, and any other educators interested in action research and/or self-study. The chapters of this book draw on our collective experiences as educators in a variety of educational contexts, and our roles guiding educator/researchers in various settings. All of our experiences have enabled us to question and refine our own understanding of action research as a process and means for pedagogical improvement.

This course covers techniques for and critical thinking about the evaluation of changes in educational practices and policies in schools, organizations, and informal contexts. Topics include quantitative and qualitative methods for design and analysis, participatory design of practices and policies, institutional learning, the wider reception or discounting of evaluations, and selected case studies, including those arising from semester-long student projects.

The first in a two-part series, this Module discusses problem behavior in terms of the stages of the acting-out cycle and suggests ways to respond to students in the cycle's different phases (est. completion time: 1 hour). When you have completed this Module, be sure to learn more in part two.

The second in a two-part series, this Module describes interventions that can increase initial compliance to teacher requests as well as interventions that can be implemented to decrease disruptive and noncompliant behaviors.

This resource provides schools and community organizations with a guide to administering the hope scale for children or adults. The resource provides background information about the Science of Hope, a decision chart on how to use the toolkit, step by step instructions on how to administer and score the hope scale. The toolkit PDF is informational, but the scoring template companion resource is interactive and includes formulas for the user to track data. The original toolkit content was developed for Kitsap Strong by Maya A. McKenzie, MPH, CPH.
