Die Beispieldatenbank, bestehend aus drei kleinen Tabellen (Artikel.txt, Vertreter.txt, Umsatz.txt) können Sie sich entweder direkt herunterladen und in ein eigenes Datenbank-System einspielen oder Sie nutzen das Sql-interaktiv-lernen aus den Freeware-Tools. In diesem ist eine Access-Datenbank mit den drei Beispieltabellen bereits enthalten. Eine Access-Installation ist zur Nutzung nicht notwendig. Es genügt die .NET1.1-Laufzeitumgebung, der Zugriff auf die Datenbank erfolgt über das Programm.

Ver­schie­de­ne An­wen­dun­gen bzw. po­ten­ti­el­le An­wen­dun­gen wer­den vor­ge­stellt, es wird ge­zeigt, wo die Her­aus­for­de­run­gen und Pro­ble­me bei der Sprach­ver­ar­bei­tung lie­gen und von wel­cher Seite man sich ihnen nä­hern kann. Bei ma­schi­nel­ler Über­set­zung braucht man Kom­po­nen­ten, die den Auf­bau von Wör­tern ana­ly­sie­ren (mor­pho­lo­gi­sche Kom­po­nen­te), Kom­po­nen­ten, die die Struk­tur von Sät­zen ana­ly­sie­ren (syn­tak­ti­sche Kom­po­nen­te) und man muss die Be­deu­tung eines Sat­zes er­mit­teln, um ihn ad­äquat über­set­zen zu kön­nen. Es wird das Kon­zept der end­li­chen Au­to­ma­ten er­klärt und ge­zeigt, wie sich sol­che Au­to­ma­ten für die mor­pho­lo­gi­sche Ana­ly­se be­nut­zen las­sen. Es wird ge­zeigt, wie man syn­tak­ti­sche Ge­setz­mä­ßig­kei­ten for­ma­li­sie­ren kann, und wie die ent­spre­chen­den Gram­ma­ti­ken ver­ar­bei­tet wer­den kön­nen.
