Rating
0.0 stars

Accounting is the language of business. As a result students must grasp the vocabulary associated with the discipline to have a fundamental understanding of financial reporting. This activity is a combination of the five-card Cribbage game and the board game Bingo. It makes use of game theory as an alternate way to cover content that would typically be part of a lecture. Cribbingo fosters class participation by making learning fun. In addition, the Cribbingo lecture can be adapted to classes taught in many disciplines, including the sciences and world languages.

Long Description:
Hispanic Cultures Through the Screen aims to promote critical viewing of contemporary audiovisual products and thinking about the representation of Hispanic cultures in web series and music videos. Increasing popularity of these two genres justify dedicating part of the curriculum to them along with other more established audiovisual genres, such as short and feature films. The book is presented in English and Spanish so that it can be used in a wide variety of courses. Finally, it is organized into separate units (each based on a different audiovisual product) with different themes, structures and length, so that teachers can select those units that interest them the most for a specific course.

Geological Structures: a Practical Introduction
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC
Rating
0.0 stars

This manual is about structures that occur within the Earth’s crust. Structures are the features that allow geologists to figure out how parts of the Earth have changed position, orientation, size and shape over time. This work requires careful observation and measurements of features at the surface of the Earth, and deductions about what’s below the surface. The practical skills you will learn in this course form the foundation for much of what is known about the history of the Earth, and are important tools for exploring the subsurface. They are essential for Earth scientists of all kinds.

The course that this document supports is about doing structural geology. It’s not possible to be a good geologist (or to pass the course) just by learning facts. You have to be able to solve problems. Do your lab work conscientiously and get as much as possible done during lab sessions when instructors are available to help you.

This manual consists of both readings and lab exercises, which alternate through the text. The readings are designed to be read and understood outside the lab sessions, whereas the labs contain specific instructions and questions to be completed. Before each lab, be sure you have covered the readings that come immediately before it.
