Organized around the compelling question "How have Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders engaged civically and contributed to U.S. culture?" and grounded in inquiry-based teaching and learning, this lesson brings history, civics, and the arts together to learn about the experiences and perspectives of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in U.S. history. Primary sources, literature, and works of art created by AAPI individuals and related organizations provide an historical as well as contemporary context for concepts and issues including civic participation, immigration, and culture.

The purpose of our project is to encourage the students who participate in the learning process in English course. Also, our aim is to improve their skills in English and provide to take an interest in learning English. These activities will be issued online via web 2.0 tools. We are going to record videos, take photos, create learning materials, logos, blogs, have video conferences, share materials on Twinspace, disseminate and evaluate the project by working collaboratively. Then, we will collect them into a Web Twinsite.

Definitions are a part of daily life, academics, and careers. How do they work? What makes an effetive definition. Students examine examples of definitions and revise them to learn about options for writing clearly for varied audiences. Finally, students create their own expanded definition.

In this lesson, students will read and analyze "The Interlopers" by Saki (H. H. Munro). Lesson 1 from the Author's Craft unit focuses primarily on character. Students will examine how the motivations of Georg and Ulrich drive the plot, develop the theme, and enhance the irony. In this lesson students will read and analyze “The Flowers” by Alice Walker. Lesson 2 from the Author’s Craft unit focuses on diction.  Students will examine how Walker’s word choice creates tonal shifts in the story that support the theme. In this module, students engage with literature and nonfiction texts that develop central ideas of guilt, obsession, and madness, among others. Building on work with evidence-based analysis and debate in Module 1, students will produce evidence-based claims to analyze the development of central ideas and text structure. Students will develop and strengthen their writing by revising and editing, and refine their speaking and listening skills through discussion-based assessments.
