However, the strategy can be utilized in other disciplines for the purpose of Making Thinking Visible. Parental consent was granted to share a student sample of the final product for this lesson, which is pictured above. The title card the 6th-grade student, Boston, created included the following description: "The sunrise in the painting represents the help and hope that Houston is getting. Also, the clouds are eyes, and the sun is a mouth. The face is crying. This represents my sympathy for Texas." Boston had selected "Rising floodwaters overwhelm Houston, other parts of Texas", the third option from Newsela provided in the Google Slides. The choices for articles can be updated each year prior to the activity.

This module, which is still undergoing revision, presents different approaches to corporate governance. To provide a realistic context in which to practice these approaches and the associated concepts, it has students in small groups choose an actual company and develop compliance and corrective plans using the approaches and concepts of corporate governance. Designed to compliment previously published modules on the history of corporations, moral ecologies, and corporate social responsibility, it summarizes material currently being taught at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez in the courses of "Corporate Leadership and Social Responsibility" and "Business, Society, and Government." This module has been developed through a project funded by the National Science Foundation, "Collaborative Development of Ethics Across the Curriculum Resources and Sharing of Best Practices," NSF-SES-0551779.

Typically for when students have just finished a unit on the Enlightenment and Scientific Revolution, this activity twists the traditional autobiographical six-word memoir to other people's biographies. You will ask your students to create six-word memoirs for the leading thinkers of the Enlightenment. If people like Voltaire, Newton and Diderot only had six words, how would they describe their accomplishments? In other words, summarize the life of a philosophe.”for more info:http://www.edutopia.org/blog/clarity-brevity-6-word-memoirs-jonathan-olsen

There are many different topics within exploration that students have some background information with.  Topics like the Atlantic Slave Trade and the Columbian Exchange are parts of history that students either have background knowledge on or they are easy for students to grasp.  However, there are other topics, like mercantilism and triangular trade, that students struggle with.  This lesson is designed to be done in an 80-minute period (or more), or over the course of two days.  It allows students some autonomy to work on their own, and to take the notes that they need, but also allows the teacher to lead a portion of the lesson and clarify any quesitons that might arise.
