In this lesson, students will learn about the five love languages. Students will be able to identify them, and will learn how to apply them in various relationships. Students will take the quiz to learn their top love language and will reflect on how they will apply this information to bettering their life. 

Students will learn about the six essential nutrients in the body and their purposes. They will analyze the effects of surpluses and deficiencies in the body of various nutrients.

This lesson introduces students developmental milestones from birth to age 8. Using the CDC’s developmental milestones, students will create timelines highlighting developmental progressions. Students will then synthesize the progressions through observational and reflective writing.

In this lesson students will learn about some common birth defects.  Students will sign up for a topic they want to learn more about.  Students will prepare a slide presentation to share with the class.  Students will define the birth defects in their notes.  A matching worksheet is provided to help students review.

This is a project based course designed to help middle school students explore career options using the Nebraska Career Education Model and understand the Nebraska Career Readiness Standards. The course is organized by three themes – Making it My Choice, A World of Options and Charting a Direction – with culminating individual and group projects. This lesson introduces students to different curriculum models, Montessori and HighScopes, used in early childhood settings. Students will identify important details to each model, then identify similarities and differences in curriculum as the child ages. Students will end the lesson by developing an opinion on which model they believe to be the best.

Students will choose a podcast to listen to and analyze it by identifying similarities and differeneces between education in modern society and education historically. 

Students will learn about ethical psychological research involving human subjects. They will discover the history of ethical research, analyze how ethical principles came to be, and will also learn the role of IRBs in research. 

In this lesson students will be introduced to the six main family structures:  nuclear, extended, blended, single parent, foster and adoptive. (I start with these six to match the textbook and then we discuss what family types need to be added to our list later!) Students work in groups to discuss advantages and disadvantages of their assigned family structure. They also generate a list of TV shows and movies that are examples of that family structure.  After each group presents to the class, the teacher can lead a discussion about what types of families need to be added to the list.  For example:  same-sex, childless, etc.

Students will be placed into groups and assigned a historical figure in education. Together, students will research the individual(s) and create a presentation that will inform the audience on the life and career of this individual. NOTE: This happens after we discuss education of BIPOC peoples in the United States.  

High School students will learn more about fats in the body and why they are essential. They will also analyze the effects of different types of fats and making healthy fat choices.

Life is full of color, but what do different colors represent? This lesson dives into the colors of the color wheel and the different color schemes. 

This lesson introduces students to measuring food ingredients, provides a lab opportunity to experiment with measuring tools, and assesses students' knowledge on all content.
