Comparing investigate interview with resulting case notes

An approximately two minute interactive video clip asking a learner to watch an investigative interview, interspersed with still images of the case notes written, and culminating with a knowledge check. The interview shows the social worker and child in a school setting, following report of potential abuse by staff from the child's school. Learners are asked to take notes and compare those with the case notes written by the social worker, shown at two points in the video. A multiple choice knowledge check, with feedback for correct and incorrect responses, concludes the video.

[6]Experiential learning is often used synonymously with the term "experiential education", but while experiential education is a broader philosophy of education, experiential learning considers the individual learning process.
[22] Jacobson and Ruddy, building on Kolb's four-stage Experiential Learning Model[14] and Pfeiffer and Jones's five stage Experiential Learning Cycle,[23] took these theoretical frameworks and created a simple, practical questioning model for facilitators to use in promoting critical reflection in experiential learning.
Moon has elaborated on this cycle to argue that experiential learning is most effective when it involves: 1) a "reflective learning phase" 2) a phase of learning resulting from the actions inherent to experiential learning, and 3) "a further phase of learning from feedback".
[5] It is related to but not synonymous with other forms of active learning such as action learning, adventure learning, free-choice learning, cooperative learning, service-learning, and situated learning.
Kolb transposes four learning styles, Diverger, Assimilator, Accommodator and Converger, atop the Experiential Learning Model, using the four experiential learning stages to carve out "four quadrants", one for each learning style.

This particular one-room school, originally known as the Red-Brick School House, served the community of Blakely Township, Nebraska, from 1872 to 1967. When closed, it was the oldest continuously used one-room school in Nebraska. It served not only as a school, but also as a church, meeting hall, polling place, and social and political center of the community.

Iron Hill School: An African-American One-Room School

The Mysterious Hammerhead

Of all the animals in the oceans, the hammerhead shark may be one of the strangest looking. The exact purpose of the wide, flat head is a mystery, but several theories abound. In this video, we travel to the shark-infested waters of the Galapagos in Ecuador and to a research station in Hawaii to learn about the unusual habits of these sinister-looking sharks. The New Nordic Diet - From Gastronomy to Health - The Influence on Children's Cognition and Performance in School (04:59)

Besides measuring the health effects of school meals based on the New Nordic Diet, the OPUS Study also evaluated the effect of the intervention on cognitive performance of the children. In continuation of this, we will explain why it is relevant to measure cognitive performance and provide a short summary of the methods we used and the findings.

Sand, Wind, and Your School Lunch

Last year the Siuslaw 97J School District changed our food service operation from a national supplier (Chartwell’s) to in-house food service. Our Food Service Manager instituted an organic philosophy and wanted to source local produce. Utilizing our school garden program we now help supply fresh produce for our Siuslaw Elementary School cafeteria. Crop production is stronger in the 4/5 wing because of wind protection from the building. Florence experiences high winds and we are located close to the beach so we have constant sand blowing into our crops. The K-3 garden beds do not have the same protection as the 4/5 beds, and as a result have a lower yield. Our goal is to have students design and engineer wind barriers for these beds and then present the best solutions to our school board so that we can get funding to implement our ideas. This project can be used in any school with a garden by using preexisting barriers on a the school property. The unique environment of the school would dictate the lessons required to be adapted to fit the environmental needs of the community. If the school is lacking a garden, the students can focus on an at home garden project.

The lab assistant can also show something that can apply to them, like "having 4 roommates." Those who have 4 roommates will be asked a follow up question and if they can answer, they get the point.
