Open Educational Practice and Professional Learning

Strengthening Our Practice through Collaboration and Design

Learn About OEP

The goal of Open Educational Practice (OEP) is to build the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that support and improve teaching and learning. Using open educational resources (OER) presents unique affordances for educators, as the use of OER is an invitation to adapt, personalize, and add relevancy to materials that inspire and encourage deeper learning in the classroom and across institutions.

We encourage you to explore the professional learning resources and tools gathered here to develop and deepen engagement in open education, and equally as important, please join the Open Education Community of Practice to contribute resources to these important collections.

Open Education Week Webinar - Wednesday, March 4 at 10am Pacific

Feb. 26, 2020, 2:49 p.m.

To celebrate Open Education Week, ISKME is kicking off a new OER Webinar Series on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 10:00am Pacific Time with Assessing Your OER Landscape for Impact and Readiness

Register here

Presenters: ISKME's VP of Research & Development, Amee Godwin, and Director of Research & Learning, Cynthia Jimes

Description: Across the U.S., state legislatures are appropriating funding for research on OER within and across their institutions of higher education. Post-secondary school systems including community college districts are also allocating resources to gather data on OER use, with recognition of the need for such research to inform current or planned OER work. This session will share with participants approaches to conducting state- and system-level OER use and impact research. The session will outline existing OER survey instruments, metrics, and data collection approaches that states and college systems can utilize to assess OER use, impact, and readiness in their contexts. The session will include a discussion of recommendations and insights that have emerged out of existing state-level research, and the implications for policy and practice.

Upcoming webinars in the series will be announced soon. Register here and we will send along webinar updates, login information, and recordings. Please feel free to invite others to join us.
