This lesson is intended to provide Outdoor Education or Physical Education students an opportunity to learn how to use a dutch oven while cooking in the outdoors.
This lesson is to be used as a guide for introducing kayaking to students in a school setting. Students will learn the 5 basic kayaking strokes, how and why to wear a PFD, and how to use a paddle to maneuver their boat around the water.
This lesson allows students to practice capsizing in a safe environment. They will also learn how to perform self rescues and partner rescues to get back into their kayak once they have capsized.
Students learn how to take bearings using orienteering compasses. They also learn how to describe a bearing and find an object in the classroom using a bearing.
