Football Follies - Congruent Triangles

Brainstorm on your own.  Use your notebook to list, make thumbnail sketches of several ideas for a design for the new bench.  Document all of your ideas whether you think they are "good" ideas or not.

Accessibility Options

  • Students may benefit from providing them with choice options for brainstorming.  Brainstorming may be able to be documented in a physical notebook or using a digital tool such as AutoDraw, Google Drawings, Google Jamboard, or a whiteboard feature in Zoom if students are virtual.

Part B- Group Brainstorming

Gather with your group and share all of your ideas.  Remember that in this step there is NO judgement allowed.  Share all ideas whether you feel they are "good" ideas or not.  Your group need many ideas in this step before you can move on to the next step.

Let's review the rules of Brainstorming[1]:

1. Defer Judgement- This is a judgment-free zone and we can build off of each other's ideas

2. Encourage Wild Ideas- Embrace the ideas that seem wild and out-of-the-box

3.  Build on the Ideas of Others

4. Stay Focused on the Topic- Keep conversations focused on the goal

5. One Conversation at a Time

6. Be Visual- Share your sketches with each other!  You may like to use sticky notes and markers to mark ideas you like/dislike and adjust

7. Go for Quantity- Generate as many ideas as you can!
