Group Title

Institute for Systems Biology

Group Description

Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is a collaborative and cross-disciplinary non-profit biomedical research organization based in Seattle, WA. We focus on some of the most pressing issues in human health, including aging, cancer, COVID, the gut microbiome, and many chronic and infectious diseases. Our science is translational, and we champion sound scientific research that results in real-world clinical impacts. ISB is an affiliate of Providence, one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in the United States.

Integrated into all efforts is a focus on making quality STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education a reality for every student regardless of gender, race or socioeconomic status. We approach this like we approach our science: driven by research and with a deep understanding of the complex systems that educate our children. Our systems approach drives us to work with all parts of the education system, including students, teachers, principals and other district leaders. A large part of this work leads to Open Educational Resources that can help bring a systems approach to STEM education to all learners.
