As technology continues to have a huge impact on the world around us, traditional face to face learning is being transformed into web based applications. Both teachers are students are looking at social media as a tool to engage, support, and connect students, teachers, and institutions. As social networking, social media, and Web 2.0 applications are growing by the day, individuals are beginning to realize the different things we can do when incorporating social media into education, and the connections and expansion of materials that we gain from it.Social media will never completely replace education, but it does assist with educational practices while improving teaching efficiency and enhancing student learning experiences (Blankenship, 2011). Students are becoming inspired by the technology, and taking more responsibility for their education. Not only does it improve students’ overall learning experience, it helps students be on the “cutting edge” for competitive job markets in their future. Technology is emerging is several ways, and it is important that we have to ability to use and apply this technology to our everyday lives.
