3 D Prin

Description

Using a 3 D printer to model the printing of a mathematical object. Continueing on to calculate the volume of material used and total cost if the item based on this volume.

Learning Goals

Developing an understanding for the effects that 3D printing will have on our society, while learning volume and surface area calculations in a real world context.

Depth of Knowledge

A rudimentary  understanding of programming, an open mind to new technologies, and the ability to use volume formulas and make cost comparisons.

SEC Standards

5.9 recognize 3d objects from 2d

6.1 solve problems involving volume and area

6.2 find volume and surface area of 3d objects
