The assignment asks students to reflect on the authors we've read over the term (or, in my case, the year) and, with these authors in mind, position themselves within the "American Dream." The assignment encourages students to challenge the concept of the "Dream" and/or modify the assignment itself. The file also includes good examples of personal essays which are more "college-admissions and scholarship" than this specific assignment.
