Students will start their Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) year with activities that apply important career readiness skills, including teamwork, communication, leadership, creativity, and utilization of technology. They will also begin to understand the connection between what they are learning in the classroom and their future career path through one (or more) CTSOs.

The goal of this lesson is for students to learn about the problem-solving process and parts of that process. It is a vital part of computational thinking. They will look at problems they have solved already, solve a problem together in class and also look at a real-life problem and apply the problem-solving process to it.

The goal of this lesson is for students to work with conditional formatting in a spreadsheet program. Conditional formatting is a useful tool in spreadsheets, and this allows students to see three applications of it, including using it on their own grades. It also reviews functions and formatting concepts of spreadsheets.

The goal of this lesson is for students to work with borders and basic formatting in a spreadsheet program so that it is useful and pleasing to the eye. This lesson encourages creativity with a maze creation and also collaboration in a shared spreadsheet that students then copy and format to make it pleasing to the eye. It also offers students the chance to look at others’ creations and give feedback.

The goal of this lesson is for students to test concepts they have already worked with; creating formulas and functions in a worksheet, and formatting for money. The assessment is a production work where students look at the candy bar sales from each class. It requires them to put in functions like minimum, maximum, totals, and figure revenue. There is also an additional activity for review of revenue, formatting currency, and totals prior to the production test, if needed.
