Based on Kolb’s Cycle of Experiential Learning, simulation training is designed specifically to promote critical thinking, decision making, analysis and problem solving. This presentation discusses how LA County employs a multidisciplinary team of facilitators to move learning from isolated interventions learned in class to more realistic scenarios. The facilitators demonstrate a scenario / scene using conference participants at the 2014 Title IV-E Summer Field Institute, debrief the scene together with the audience, and explain the instructional outcome and scaffolding included in the scene. This design allows for a safe, controlled space in which trainees can make and learn from their mistakes and receive immediate and valuable feedback.
