  • What could have made that advertisement better?
  • What limitations did some forms of advertising have?

Activities (i.e. instructions, warm-up, lesson, cool-down):

Briefly discuss the various forms of advertising, explaining that each has its own advantages and disadvantages in comparison to the other forms. Pass out the handout explaining the advertisement the students are to create. Students will, individually or with a partner, choose a form of advertising over which they will create an advertisement meant to persuade a potential advertiser to choose their form for their next advertisement. Students will use their textbooks or the Internet to discover information about their form of advertising in order to create their advertisement.

Once the advertisements are finished, students will present their advertisements to the class to teach the other students about their chosen form of advertising.

Closure:

Students will write two quiz questions about their chosen form of advertising that can be used on an informal quiz to begin the next class period together. (The teacher will need to compile the questions students asked into a quiz to give the next day, if desired.)

Assessment :

The students will take the quiz that was created using the questions students wrote as the closure the previous day. This will serve as a review of the material as well as show the teacher what material needs to be reviewed.
