Digital Age Skill: Population Ecology-Graphing Populations and Carrying Capacity

Population Ecology-Graphing Populations and Carrying Capacity

Description of the Lesson

Overview

This lesson was created by Paula Heinz as part of the Nebraska ESUCC Special Project Digital Age Skills.

Students will discover how populations grow and maintain their populations (carrying capacity) and how environmental factors (limiting factors) influence their populations. They will analyze and graph a data set and determine a trend-line to estimate carrying capacity, and list limiting factors for populations.

ISTE Standard

5c Students break problems into components parts, extract key information, and develop descriptive models to understand complex systems or facilitate problem-solving.

NE Standard

NGSS.HS.LS 2.1 Use mathematical and or computational representations to support explanations of factors that affect carrying capacity of ecosystems at different scales..
