Learning Objectives

  • Identify at least three traits of a successful entrepreneur including, but not limited to, the following: determined, risk tolerant, confident, likes to learn, unafraid of failure, passionate about his/her business, adaptable, creative, knowledgeable about money management, persuasive, strong people skills.

  • Students have already reviewed the appropriate communication skills needed to work in teams.
Instructional Procedure
10 MinutesProvide Overview of Entrepreneurship
The PowerPoint provides an overview of what an entrepreneur is.
3 MinutesShow Clips from Shark Tank (linked in PowerPoint)
Video clips feature kid entrepreneurs.
20 MinutesPair Students
Pairs complete Entrepreneurship Scavenger Hunt.
25 MinutesJournal Entry Assignment
Students log on to Naviance, and complete the following journal entry:Discuss at least one entrepreneur that you learned about today and the character traits of a successful entrepreneur.  When you are finished, add your completed journal entry to your career portfolio.
Formative Assessment
Students will:
  • Identify at least three traits of a successful entrepreneur in their journal entries including, but not limited to, the following: determined, risk tolerant, confident, likes to learn, unafraid of failure, passionate about his/her business, adaptable, creative, knowledgeable about money management, persuasive, strong people skills.
