Lesson OverviewStudents explore different polygons by drawing them, measuring angles, and manipulating interactive sketches to find the angle sum for any polygon. Students also explore the angle measures in regular polygons.Key ConceptsThe angle sum in a triangle is 180°. A quadrilateral can be composed of two triangles, so the angle sum of a quadrilateral is 360°.The number of triangles that compose a polygon is two less than the number of sides (angles). The sum of the interior angles in a polygon with n sides is 180° (n – 2).Goals and Learning ObjectivesFind angle sums in polygons.Generalize to find the angle sum for any polygon.Find interior angle measures for regular polygons.

This is an activity about modeling and the scientific process. Learners will discuss the models they created in the previous three activities as models of forces that shape the surface of planets, and talk about the similarities and differences between models and real events. Then they brainstorm a list of questions and suggest ways scientists might find answers. This is activity 7 of 9 in Mars and Earth: Science Learning Activities for After School.

Students groups act as aerospace engineering teams competing to create linear equations to guide space shuttles safely through obstacles generated by a modeling game in level-based rounds. Each round provides a different configuration of the obstacle, which consists of two "gates." The obstacles are presented as asteroids or comets, and the linear equations as inputs into autopilot on board the shuttle. The winning group is the one that first generates the successful equations for all levels. The game is created via the programming software MATLAB, available as a free 30-day trial. The activity helps students make the connection between graphs and the real world. In this activity, they can see the path of a space shuttle modeled by a linear equation, as if they were looking from above.

This project aims to provide a bibliography resource for teachers, parents, counselors, and others interacting with children that had ACEs. As statistics indicate, there is a need for assistance in the area of resources to help children cope with the impact of the tragedy. Books are one means of having children feel connected to others and experience another individual’s process of coping with a traumatic event. Reading can connect children emotionally with characters which is the primary goal of this grant, though reading will also provide children with other additional affective benefits of readings such as active civic engagement, healthier lifestyle, examples of empathy.

A Textbook Edition of Shakespeare’s Play Created By Students, For Students
Short Description: This edition of Romeo and Juliet was edited by students for students. We believe that reliably edited versions of the play should be available for free online. But we wanted ours to be easy to get in other ways as well. The editors—Oregon State University students who remember, far better than their professors, what it was like to read the play for the first time—carefully considered every pronoun, punctuation mark, and footnote. Our goal: to make a friendly, confidence-building edition that supported classroom activities at the high school and college level. Data dashboard

What is sandhi? A dictionary definition would say something like “the euphonic combination of sounds to facilitate pronunciation, often also represented in writing.” Sandhi in Sanskrit means “joining” and it refers technically to different ways that words are joined together both when speaking and when writing. Making words easier to pronounce in speech happens everywhere and all the time. Consider the English phrase, “what do you” In some places, it might be said, “whaccha”; in others, “whadya”; and so on. Or, “I am going to” becomes “Imma go ta”; “Let me” becomes “Lemme”; etc. Clearly articulating or distinguishing each word is often inconvenient and the sounds are regularly assimilated in one way or another. When authors try to replicate dialect or speech in English, they often turn to sandhi to capture some of the spoken effect. Sandhi means standardizing these pronunciation changes also in writing.
