Together they should write down the clothing items in the suitcase template provided.

In this activity, students will talk about their hobbies and what they like to do in their free time. Students will learn how to describe their hobbies and what they like or do not like to do.  During the warm-up, a fun game will help students to review vocabulary and the main activity will provide many speaking opportunities. Interpretive pre and post activities help students expand their language competency.

CHN 102 is a continuation of CHN 101. The four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in standard Mandarin Chinese are further developed. Students will gain these four skills, attaining approximately the Intermediate-low level on the ACTFL-ETS (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency scale. Topics of conversation include education, sports, entertainment, travel, and health.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

Evidence of control of the syntax of non-complex sentences. Can create a collection of sentences on a given topic.
* List some essential points of Chinese geography, society, and culture.

This lesson is designed to develop active listening skills and encourage students to work collaboratively with their peers to set appropriate growth goals for themselves and the group.  It was designed for use with the Indiana State School Music Association group performance rubric but can be easily modified to use the performance rubric from any state music association.

This offering is for those who find themselves grief-ridden as they become more aware of how their lives and those around them are structured historically and presently by oppression. It is an approximately ten-minute guided meditation to acknowledge and honor the grief that inhabits the listeners’ bodies. The meditation also invites listeners to self-affirm their presence and survival. Warsan Shire’s “What They Did Yesterday Afternoon” and Destiny Hemphill’s poem “mapmaking” serve as anchor texts. Instructors, students, and organizers might find this meditation supportive while learning/teaching about oppression or reckoning with the near aftermath of an oppression-rooted tragedy.
