AP Calculus AB is organized into 6 units (4 units in the first semester and 2 units in the second semester). The lessons in each unit include: Readings, Multimedia (lessons), Assignments, and Assessments. The course covers the principles of functions, derivatives, integrals, limits, approximation, and applications and modeling. Students will be able to: work with functions represented in a variety of ways; understand the connections among graphical, numerical, analytical, or verbal representations; understand the meaning of the derivative in terms of a rate of change and local linear approximation, and be able to use derivatives to solve a variety of problems; understand the meaning of the definite integral both as a limit of Riemann sums and as the net accumulation of change, and use integrals to solve a variety of problems; understand the relationship between the derivative and the definite integral as expressed in both parts of the fundamental theorem of calculus.

The study of abstract algebra grew out of an interest in knowing how attributes of sets of mathematical objects behave when one or more properties we associate with real numbers are restricted. The student will begin this course by reviewing basic set theory, integers, and functions in order to understand how algebraic operations arise and are used. The student then will proceed to the heart of the course, which is an exploration of the fundamentals of groups, rings, and fields. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: Describe and generate groups, rings, and fields; Relate abstract algebraic constructs to more familiar number sets and operations and see from where the constructs derive; Identify examples of specific constructs; Identify and differentiate between different structures and understand how changing properties give rise to new structures; Explain the theory behind relations and functions and identify domains and images of functions, based on the structures given; Explain how functions may relate seemingly dissimilar structures to each other and how knowing properties of one structure allows us to know the same properties in the related structure, if certain functions exist between them. Advanced Algebra II provides three complementary resources for teachers and students that combine to provide a friendly, easy-to-understand explanation of Algebra II concepts. The main text, "Activities and Homework", consists of a series of worksheets for both in-class group work as well as homework assignments. The concepts behind those activities are described in detail in the "Conceptual Explanations" text. The third book, the "Teacher's Guide", provides instructors with guides and suggestions for presenting these materials.

Over a period of time, I have developed a set of in-class assignments, homeworks, and lesson plans, that work for me and for other people who have tried them. If I give you the in-class assignments and the homeworks, but not the lesson plans, you only have ⅔ of the story; and it may not make sense without the other third. So instead, I am giving you everything: the in-class assignments and the homeworks (the Homework and Activities book), the detailed explanations of all the concepts (the Conceptual Explanations book), and the lesson plans (the Teacher's Guide). Once you read them over, you will know exactly what I have done.
