Case Seminar Global health: Conflicting interests

(View Complete Item Description)

This case seminar text describes a situation with conflicting interests and can be used to discuss child protection. There are multiple conflicts in the situation at hand, between the welfare of children and the autonomy of the mother, between the community needs and the care for the children and the mother, and between upholding a reputation and intervening for the best sake of the vulnerable. Students should be encouraged to scrutinize their standpoints, not just reacting with a gut feeling. This will thus also be an exercise in a professional attitude.
