This document contains answers to Frequently Asked Questions for the Pathways Project | OER Language Teaching Repository Pathways Project, an initiative from the Boise State University Department of World Languages, is an open and collaborative network of instructional materials and professional development created by and uniquely for Idaho’s K-16 language teachers and students. Teachers and students participating in the Pathways Project come from different fields of study and schools across Idaho to create open (i.e., free), digital activities that support the teaching and learning of foreign languages and promote intercultural competence. In this activity students will help reinforce their knowledge and understanding of terminology for weather in Chinese by playing a weather charades game. Students will then prepare a weekend weather report for a Chinese city of their choice and use it to present a forecast to their classmates where they also suggest activities to do based on the weather!

In this activity, students will practice and reinforce their knowledge of the three ‘de’ particles (的,地,得)by rolling a dice with all three particles on it and creating sentences using different category cards from a word bank. Students are also encouraged to add their own vocabulary to personalize their sentences and be as creative as possible.

In this activity, students will plan a menu for a Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner using clues about individual dishes cultural significance. Students will read aloud the descriptions of the dishes, and then choose which ones they would want to include in their banquet to best align with traditional Chinese New Years Eve conventions.
