Pathways Project OER Language Teaching Repository @ Boise State

The activities provided by the Boise State Pathways Language Teaching Repository serve as foundational activities which can be adapted by any language and scaled up or down on the proficiency scale. Activities are created by upper-division language students working in the World Languages Resource Center at Boise State University, in partnership with Idaho K-16 language instructors. Our activities seek to help students solidify their interpersonal speaking and interpretive listening skills through task-based situations or communicative activities. We recommend using these activities to help reinforce the content students are learning, allowing the students time to feel comfortable using the unit’s vocabulary and grammar structures through application. Please Note: Many of the activities on the Pathways Project OER Repository are created by upper-division students at Boise State University and serve as a foundation that our community of practice can build upon and refine. While they are polished, we welcome and encourage collaboration from language instructors to help modify grammar, syntax, and content where needed. Students will also respond to a multitude of questions regarding their likes/dislikes in a group conversation setting. Students will learn more about traveling and how to answer questions regarding likes/dislikes. Students will also learn to answer questions about places.

This activity will expose students to the types of currency from Spanish speaking countries. Students will purchase items through an "auction". Students will practice numbers in Spanish and will also use adjectives to describe items that they can sell and buy. Students will practice using vocabulary to persuade others to buy a product and make deals with others when purchasing the product.

Students will also decide how to appropriately answer questions or how to come to a resolution to these situations on their own or with a partner. Students will be able expand their answers using formal language in an interview style activity.

In this lab, students will evaluate how social media affects their wellbeing and describe how they feel about certain current events. Students will learn to express personal feelings and opinions regarding literature, social media, and news. Additionally, students will create follow-up questions to create a conversation with others.
