Langara College is proudly one of the heaviest adopters of open textbooks amongst B.C. post-secondary institutions. Unlike traditional commercial textbooks, open textbooks are free to retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute. These are known as the 5Rs of Openness. Open textbooks, and open educational resources (OERs) more broadly, are one branch of the larger open education movement. Open education promotes educational access, affordability, and effectiveness through a culture of sharing. Explore this website for more information on how to find, evaluate, adapt and create OERs, and how to incorporate open pedagogy into your teaching.
