Algebra Gateway quiz suite

(View Complete Item Description)

My school uses a series of "Gateway" quizzes to evaluate a baseline level of learning for students in my Algebra I course. These are not to be confused with Mastery quizzes; instead, they are meant as a bare-minimum level of achievement. These 17 quizzes consititute the base level of learning a student needs to achieve to earn at least a 60% (D-) grade in my class. Teachers could use these quizzes as described above, or simply as periodic assessments if they happen to be on a given topic. Again, I do NOT consider these topics to be sufficient to compromise a standard Algebra I course, simply as a bare-minimum to be prepared for the next school year. *note: for each of the 17 quizzes, I included a pdf, and also a file created in the original software, Kuta Software. Downloading the Kuta software (sadly, only available on Windows) will allow you to regenerate multiple versions of each quiz.

Mathematics Writing Prompts

(View Complete Item Description)

This is three examples of "Type III" documents that I have prepared for students to write about math. Our school uses the Collins system of writing, but these could be adapted to a variety of classroom settings. The topics could be middle school or early high school topics, and they are set up to allow students to indepedently express their knowledge of the given topics in short essay form. In addition to the writing prompts, I have included a rubric that students use to peer-edit each others' rough drafts. Students then use this feedback form to make the necessary corrections and submit a subsequent final draft.

Mastery Tracking Template

(View Complete Item Description)

As I am moving my classroom into a more "flipped" model, I need to create tracking systems that give me the data I need to know. This spreadsheet is a tracker that I use in class to track learning on classroom assessments. This is a template that I hope others could download and use to their specifications in class. I also created a pivot table that gives me real-time data on a classroom learning team competition that I created. *Note: My student names have been replaced with a random numeric code for privacy, but I left the data intact to make it easier to figure out how to use the spreadsheet **Note: The original source formatting of this document is Apache Open Office 3 Database, but you should be able to open it with MS Excel.
