It's Your Paycheck! is designed for use in high school personal finance classes. The curriculum contains three sections: "Know Your Dough," "KaChing!" and "All About Credit." The lessons in each of these sections employ various teaching strategies to engage students so that they have opportunities to apply the concepts being taught. Each lesson includes black-line masters of the handouts and visuals needed to teach the lesson.

Students will create a poster project in groups of 3-4 about an assigned historical leader. Students should show knowledge of who this person was (when/where they lived) and several of their leadership accomplishments. Students will present their knowledge to the rest of the class so that they too may learn about a different leader than the one they were assigned.

Course Description
Introduces business management theory, including the basic functions of planning, organizing, directing, leading, and controlling as well as factors contributing to change in current management approaches. Recommended: BA 101, WR 121, and BA 131 or CAS 133. Prerequisites: WR 115, RD 115, and MTH 20 or equivalent placement test scores. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes
Upon successful completion of Management Fundamentals, the student will be able to:

Understand the overall role and importance of the management function.
Understanding the management process.
Communicate effectively using standard business terminology.

Introduction to the management process and the four basic management functions. Students will also be able to differentiate between managing and leading in an organization.

For many students, today’s environment is more stressful than ever before. This lesson focuses on helping identify and manage the symptoms of stress while providing tools for stress management, time and energy management, and organization. 

Students will compare the price of goods from one time period to another and through discussion and role play interpret the effects of inflation on consumers. They will categorize goods and services according to the eight major groups of the consumer price index and be able to determine the difference between the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the core CPI.

Learn the very basics of managing money as well as strategies for saving, budgeting, retirement and more

This lesson should follow discussion regarding basic methods to saving money and basic money management.

This lesson will provide information about the difference of saving money and investing money. A specific emphasis on what a mutual fund is, and how this investing strategy can be used for long-term financial growth.

This lesson is an activity that will give students the opportunity to explore how criminal law affects their local area. The students will research the topic of criminal law (murders) in their state or local area. The students will practice their presentation skills and the students will improve their public speaking skills.

This lesson will help students explore different budgeting tools that will identify where their income is coming from and recognize the different categories they will need to budget their expenses to manage their money wisely.

Secondary educators across Lebanon County, Pennsylvania developed lesson plans to integrate the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards with the content they teach. This work was made possible through a partnership between the South Central PA Workforce Investment Board (SCPa Works) and Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU13) and was funded by a Teacher in the Workplace Grant Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
