Practice how family members are addressed. Perspectives

German speaking countries show respect for their elders by using specific terms and have specific term for addressing different members of their family and members of different generations.  Die deutschsprachigen Länder zeigen Respekt vor den Älteren, indem sie spezifische Begriffe verwenden und spezifische Begriffe verwenden, um unterschiedliche Familienmitglieder und Mitglieder verschiedener Generationen anzusprechen.

Materials Needed

Warm-Up

1. Begin by opening the Google Slideshow and introducing the Can-Dos for today's activity.

  • Öffnen Sie zunächst die Google Slideshow und stellen Sie die Can-Dos für die heutige Aktivität vor.

2. Click on this link to access the Family Member Game. Click the icon beneath the Flashcards, third from the left which shows a tic-tac-toe board.

  • Gehen Sie zu dieser Website: Clicken sie auf das Symbol unter den Karteikarten, dritte von links dass ein Tic-Tac-Toe Brett zeigt. 

3. Ask students to pair the vocabulary with the correct vocabulary word in German to make a Tic-Tac Toe.

  • Bitten Sie die Schüler, den Wortschatz mit dem richtigen Vokabelwort auf Deutsch zu kombinieren, um einen Tic-Tac-Toe zu erstellen.

Main Activity

Pass out whiteboards to students.

Verteilen sie die Mini-Whiteboards an den Studenten. 

 

1. Explain to students that they will be working to build a family tree.

  • Erklären Sie den Schülern, dass sie daran arbeiten werden, einen Stammbaum zu erstellen.

 

2. They are not building their OWN family tree, but rather the family tree of their partner.

  • Sie bauen nicht ihren EIGENEN Stammbaum auf, sondern den Stammbaum der Person, mit der sie zusammenarbeiten.

 

3. Put students into partners and encourage them to ask questions to get information about their partner's family in order to build the family tree.

  • Teilen Sie die Studenten in Partner und ermutigen Sie sie, Fragen zu stellen, um Informationen über die Familie ihres Partners zu erhalten, um den Stammbaum zu bauen.

For example:

  • Wie viele Geschwister hast du? (How many siblings do you have?)

5. When Students are finished they will come back to the main group and share something about their partner’s tree.

Wrap-Up

Ask the students which family member they get along with the best from their family tree. 

  • Fragen Sie die Studenten mit welchem Familienmitglied aus dem Familienstammbaum sie sich am besten verstehen.
