    Warm Up and Main Activity

    Lead-in or Warm-up (2-3 minutes): Deaf culture!

This video is mainly touching on what Deaf people want hearing people to act like with them and what is appropriate behavior. It's showing that Deaf people are just like hearing people in every aspect except the fact that they can't hear.

There is a second video that is more of a fun video that asks Deaf people what question they hate most from hearing people. This is more laid back and “real”.

Have a discussion about these videos, whether or not students have ever come across any Deaf people and experienced adversity with these things or if the lab instructor has experienced anything related to these videos, please feel free to share!

    Main Activity: Let's just chat!
Review Christmas and Holiday signs. Feel free to ask students about what their favorite holiday is, and why they enjoy that holiday.

Ask students what their plans are for their break, and if they have any family traditions that are used at holidays.

Deaf Culture videos: Ask students for their responses. Are these videos helpful? What do they show about Deaf culture? Do students have any questions about Deaf culture?

Discuss next semester: Are any students graduating soon? Will they continue with ASL next semester? What did they enjoy about this semester?
