Description: 

In this lab, students will practice different Spanish greetings, as well as matching pictures of celebrities with emotions.

Materials Needed: 

Google Slide Presentation

Warm-up

Lead-in or Warm-up (2-3 minutes):

  1. First ask the students “Buenas (dias/tardes/noches) ¿Cómo están? Yo estoy _____. Hoy vamos a practicar las introducciones. 
  2. Go through the words or phrases on the slides and ask the students to hold up either one finger, two fingers, three fingers, or fingers. 
    1. One finger: Greeting
    2. Two fingers: Goodbye
    3. Three fingers: How are you/How is it going
    4. Four fingers: Nice to meet you
  3. At the end, practice one on one with each student by greeting them and asking them how they are in different ways:
    1. “Hola Abigail, ¿cómo estás?....Encantada...Hasta luego”
    2. “Buenas tardes Matt, ¿qué tal?...Mucho gusto...Adiós”
       

Main Activity

  1. Give each student a number 1-7 (depending on the number in your lab).
  2. For each scenario, the students will match their number with the corresponding person and emotion.
  3. Show them the time of day.
  4. Have students make a complete sentence using the scenario, emotions, and the time of the day.
  5. Once everyone has “had a conversation”, continue to the next scenarios.
     

Wrap-up Questions

  1. ¿Cuál saludo/introducción les gusta usar usualmente? 

End of lab:

  • Can-Do statement check-in... “Where are we?”
  • Read can-do statements and have students evaluate their confidence with cards
