_____ YES               ___x__NO

Instructional Plan:

Rules: If you fit the statement, you must leave your spot and safely go to another spot, without any contact of another student.. You may not go to the spot directly next to the one you are standing on.  If you do not find a spot, you go to the middle of the circle.

Play: One student in the middle of the circle says “Hi, I’m (name),  anyone like me who (states something about themself). At the end of the statement, students standing on spots that match the statement will move, and must find a vacated spot at least one away from where they are. The student that was in the middle attempts to find an vacated poly spot to stand on. Student in the middle of the circle tries to get on one of the vacated spots. There will be one student that does not find a spot. They become the new “Anyone like me”. Teacher should demonstrate first..

Extensions:

As play continues, the teacher should slowly remove more spots (like musical chairs). When two (or more) students are in the middle they must think of a trait they both share.

Examples:

Anyone like me who ate breakfast.

Anyone like me who prefers Marvel over DC.

Anyone like me who has no idea what Marvel and DC are.

Anyone like me who speaks another language.

Assessment /Closure:

Formative:

Teacher returns to the middle of the circle. “Anyone like me who has learned the name of a classmate they did not know before.” By watching the number of students that move, the teacher can assess the increase of familiarity with classmates.

Safety Precautions: Students need to be reminded that this is non contact.
