    Scratch Name Project

    Scratch Name Project

    Overview

Students will learn the basic features of Scratch, a block-based visual prgramming language, and create a simple program using Scratch.

    Scratch Name Project

This task is your first project in Scratch!  You will write a program based on your first name. Create a "sprite" for each character in your name.  Each character in your name will do something different, for example, move, rotate, change color, or anything else you can think of!

Click HERE to open up Scratch. Create an account if you don't already have one. Click on CREATE in the upper left hand corner. Below are the instructions and a video tutorial on how to create your project.

    Requirements

    1. You must have a separate sprite for each letter of your name. You can abbreviate your name if it is long. You will need to have at least 3 letters. Use the letter sprites.
    2. Each letter in your name must have a set of code.
    3. Each set of code should start with an event. The most common event is "When the green flag is clicked". However, you have the freedom to try out "When key is pressed", "When Sprite is clicked", or any other events you would like to try.
    4. Each letter in your name will do something different, for example move, rotate, change color, etc. There must be at least three different interesting behaviors for the letters in your name.
    5. You must choose a background.

    Animate Your Name with Scratch

    6. When you are done with your project click on the orange Share button at the top of your Scratch project. If you don't see an orange Share button in Scratch, it is because you haven't confirmed your account through your email. You have to open up the email that says "no-reply" from the Scratch team and CONFIRM your email address. Check your SPAM folder if you can’t see it.

    7. Make sure your project is named.  Name it with your first name, last name, followed by Name Project.
        Example: Jane Doe Name Project

    8. Click on See Project Page. This is where you can also check whether you have shared your project or not. If you haven't already shared it, click on Share.
    9. You can also add instructions for the user here.
    10. At the bottom right-hand corner click on Copy Link. This is the link that you will submit to your teacher.
