Overview

What kind of clothing do you wear; jeans, a t-shirt, socks, and sneakers?  Be able to describe your clothing style using the vocabulary for clothing items as well as the adjectives and colors you have already learned in previous seminars.  You will also be able to walk into stores or look at others to identify clothing items in Spanish.

Introductory warm-up activity.

Look in your closet! What do you see?  Look in your dresser! What do you see?  Look at the department store! What do you see?  Clothing items are everywhere, watch this video and see if you understand what clothing items he is raping about.

¡Imagínate! Imagine you are a salesperson for a local department store in the United States.  Your boss really wants to integrate new styles into the store so they have assigned you to research style in Spain.  You are to browse El Corte Inglés’ website for what men, women, and children are wearing in Spain.  Anything from tops (sweaters, vests, t-shirts, blouses, etc.), bottoms (shorts, dress pants, jeans, skirts, etc.), shoes (sneakers, shoes, sandals, etc.), dresses, and accessories (jewelry, hats, scarves, etc.). You will put together two outfits by selecting items from their website.  Using this google doc (make a copy) you will write a description of the item in español (identify the color) and don’t forget el precio in Euros!

Complete this wrap-up activity where you reflect on your learning.  

Write a reflection paragraph answering the following questions:

  • Different seasons call for different clothing items.  Name one specific article of clothing, in Spanish, you would wear in each different season.  How will you remember these words to use in the future?
