    Overview

    Spanish-speaking people tend to be very polite.  They greet each other politely and ask how they are doing.  In this seminar you will become familiar with these phrases and be able how to use them in a conversation with a new friend.

    Good afternoon! Good night! Using different greetings indicates what time of day it is, but it is a welcoming phrase to say to someone.  Give a listen to Kevin Hart’s spanish greetings, can you understand him?  See how many words make sense in his sentence.

    How many times can you hear the word "hola"?  

     

    Using youtube or any other search engine, find a Spanish song that uses some of your vocabulary as part of its lyrics. The song can be an original Spanish song or an English song that has been translated.  Share the link to the song, identify what vocabulary word or words from this lesson are in the song, and how many times you hear it.

    Complete this wrap-up activity where you reflect on your learning.

    1. Write a reflection essay answering the following questions:

    • In what ways have you improved in your ability to introduce yourself and greet others in Spanish?
