Overview

Students will learn about Charles Dickens through a biography video, and they will use the video to help them to make predictions about what the novel Great Expectations is about.

3. When students are finished, have them use the video to predict what the novel will be about. They should respond to the following questions: 

  • What do you think this novel might be about?
  • What were Dickens’ “great expectations”?
  • How do you think he might have applied his "great expectations" to the novel?
