An animatic is a movie of the storyboards. This is used for timing our motion picture. It also helps us judge if the movie will be a success. To create an animatic, the storyboard, the film score, the dialog and the sound effects are put into an editing program to create a movie which we can show to investors. Later, when we record the voices for the animated version of this motion picture, the actors will watch the animatic to help understand the action and the timing of the dialog.

This learning project offers learnings activities that allow Wikiversity participants to learn astronomy "on the job" by participating in analysis of astronomical observations.
The Bloom Clock Project is an attempt to create a language for discussing the bloom times of wildflowers and other plants that is neutral in respect to climate, region, and hemisphere. This language will take a few years to develop as it depends on a large pool of data.
Wikiversity participants with an interest in Cell biology can participate in the "Cell biology improvement drive". This Learning Project is a service-oriented Wikiversity project devoted to improvement of Cell biology articles at Wikipedia and development of the Wikibooks textbook about Cell biology. Participants in the project can become involved in the construction of new Wikiversity pages that are concerned with Cell biology. This "Cell biology improvement drive" also includes improvement of existing Wikipedia pages (for example) and development of the Wikibooks cell biology textbook. This project supports the idea of learning within a Wiki-format university by active participation in the construction of wiki pages. You can pick a topic in Cell Biology that interests you and start reading. As you discover interesting information, add what you have learned to a wiki page about the topic you are learning. Keep a record of what you read and what you write.
This learning project is about chain mail. It is also called chain maille. We can do armor and jewelry with chain mail. The two have many things in common, such as how to make ring, how to close them, and some assembly patterns. The difference is in the material used, the size and gauge of the ring, and shape that is built with the ring.
The Collaborate and Create learning project is an online resource created to assist in the in-service of educators seeking to integrate technology into their classroom curriculum. This resource will assist in the development of learning groups organized around real problems of practice that provide access to outside resources and expertise.
This course aims to help students understand the basic principles and techniques used in computer aided design and manufacture process; to teach them how to use available CAD/CAE tools; and to help them acquire hands-on experience with 3D modeling and design using available CAD/CAE tools.
In this lesson, we turn the thumbnail storyboards into very beautiful storyboards using 3D software. Even though we have completed the thumbnail storyboards, we are not ready to begin filming because we do not know the timing, pace and rhythm of the story. To get this, we need an animatic which is movie made from the storyboards. The thumbnail storyboards are very quick sketches used by the director and cinematographer to set up the shots. All that is requires of thumbnail storyboards is the location of the heads of the actors and the direction of their eyes. But thumbnail storyboards do not look very good when turned into an animatic. (At least mine are not very good looking.) Therefore, we need to create better looking storyboard which are also more accurate. We can make these storyboards with 3D software such as FrameForge 3D Studio and DAZ Studio, etc. (Note: This is not programs such as Storyboard Artist which are only 2D programs.)

For the first lesson of this course, you are given a short story and you are told to format the story into the proper format for a motion picture script. Now is an excellent time to learn script formatting. This is a task that people do every day in Hollywood so this lesson give you excellent practice. You can download a free yet working demo version of Final Draft which is a script typing and script formatting program. This is the ideal program for learning script formatting. There are versions for both the Macintosh and Windows. Or you can download a free program called CeltX which is still under construction (version 0.99) and the manual is incomplete. However, it looks very interesting, it is free, and it works on Linux as well as Macintosh and Windows. .
This course covers the following topics: an introduction to philosophy; philosophy of religion; epistemology; the philosophy of mind; free-will and determinism; ethics and metaphysics.
Hitler's Germany, or from here on out referred to as 'The Third Reich', is a course that will familiarize the student with key themes in the current historical literature involving the subject. The course breaks down to several weeks of discussion held on the main page and a paper that each student will complete on a topic of their choosing, which will then be critiqued by the class for its merit and historical content. The student taking this class will hopefully walk away with a greater understanding of the time and exposure to an active academic environment that requires scholarly research. The instructor has taken a class exactly on this subject and will attempt to mold many of those ideas into this class, so students will be prepared to take on university level material should the opportunity arise. It should be noted that subject material in this class will be of a frank and sometimes grotesque manner, so if the student is not capable of maintaining a professional demeanor and historical objectivism, it is suggested that they not sign up for this class. This is intended to be roughly a '300' or '3rd year' or 'junior' level college class.
In this lesson, you will learn that: A wide angle lens creates a mood which is cold and distant. A telephoto lens creates a mood which is very warm, comfortable and close. A neutral lens (half way between a telephoto and a wide angle) creates a neutral, almost boring scene. When you create the 3D storyboards for Seduced by the Dark Side!, the camera must help you create many moods. Therefore we need to learn what moods are possible with lenses.
The purpose of this course is to learn how to make a short motion picture starting with pre-production. As we walk through all the steps of making this movie, you will prepare yourself for entering film school.
The need for an OER textbook on conceptual physics led to the discovery of a short book Matthew Raspanti posted on the internet back in 2008. He agreed to a CC-BY-NC-SA licence that permits the text to reside on Wikiversity as a pdf file. It is available as a single 162 page document, as well as 20 much shorter documents to facilitate online navigation.
Each of these 20 sections links out of a WIKI page that will permit the submission and sharing of ancillary materials under a CC-BY-SA license. These wiki-pages can be organized to host an arbitrary number of submissions by students, as well as by instructors.
I propose to create as sort of "Wikipedia" of exam bank questions that focus on the general education courses associated with the first two years of college. I believe enough courses would benefit from such a bank that it could significantly reduce the cost of higher education. A physics and astronomy bank has already been constructed, and a user-friendly exam-writing code has been written.
In this project, you create educational materials for schools. If you like to draw human figures or if you have Poser or DAZ Studio, you can join. The artwork that you will create in this project turns Tux Paint into a storyboarding program. The artwork is a human figure viewed from many angles. Once you have drawn the artwork, you mask the figures so they can be used as "stamps" in Tux Paint for kids to create storyboards for motion pictures. These special stamps allow Tux Paint to work like a simple version of Storyboard Quick and Storyboard Artist. Hopefully, this project teaches you everything you need to know to create storyboarding stamps for Tux Paint.
We need to draw storyboards for this movie. Storyboards are very important. First, you should sketch out very simple storyboards called "Thumbnail Storyboards". In the next lesson, you will create 3D storyboards using the free demo version of FrameForge Studio 3D. Later, we will turn your storyboards into a test movie called an "animatic".
