The assessment module is meant for use either after completion of the project-based learning module or with participants who are familiar with project-based learning. The module is designed for a two to three hour class or session, divided into two parts.Part One, Guided Process, is designed to give participants a brief introduction to assessment. It answers the questions "Why is Assessment Important?"; "What are Some Types of Assessment?"; and "How Do Rubrics Help?" The Guided Process includes the Assessment Resources section and a PowerPointхи presentation, including presenter notes. This presentation can be shown directly from the Web site or can be downloaded for use as a stand-alone slide show. The video segment, "Assessment Overview" demonstrates assessment in action at various schools. The Assessment Resources section contains additional examples of assessment in action (Urban Academy, Mountlake Terrace High School, and Assessing Project-Based Work).Part Two, Group Participation, assigns readings and activities for experiential, project-based learning. Ideally, the tasks will be accomplished using group collaboration and with the use of technology.Specific ISTE NETS Standards have been addressed in this module.

This is a teacher guide for operating a GenWe classroom. From the very beginning to the launch of the program, these resources will help teachers and students build the ideal learning environment to improve social competence. What is the GenWe Classroom? It is an elective course for middle and high school students designed to help them learn how to interact and cooperate and use technology responsibly. The class is managed by the students and teachers collaboratively. The structure of the class allows the students to make decisions based on evaluating the input from peers, near-peers, and adults. In order for normal social situations to occur, the students need to be allowed to manage themselves, including their learning. Ideally the GenWe Classroom will include a budget. Students will be responsible for planning the learning materials they will need for the semester.
This website provides a list of basic, common words and expressions in Arabic in both Arabic script and in transliteration. It is intended to give learners a basic set of stock phrases to use if going overseas. Links to YouTube videos of common phrases is included in the website, as is a multiple choice test. The test is in transliteration. A similar list and test is also available for Moroccan Arabic. Information on the Arabic alphabet is available, as is a link to the Speak7 website for more in-depth lessons.
