This OER explores the issue of Banned Books during the Scientific Revolution. It includes links to high-quality primary sources from the Scientific Revolution. It is a product of the OU Academy of the Lynx, developed in conjunction with the Galileo's World Exhibition at the University of Oklahoma.
Students will view three works of decorative arts and complete the accompanying activities to better understand the Age of Exploration and the Scientific Revolution, and how these "revolutions" and their discoveries influenced the new European world view.
Students will close-read an excerpt from a secondary source to explore the significance of the Scientific Revolution. After examining a passage from "The Invention of Science" by David Wotton, students will engage in a seminar-style discussion using the text.
