Biology is designed for multi-semester biology courses for science majors. La chirurgie du rachis expose à un taux élevé de complications allant de 5 % à 50 % en fonction des interventions. Plus l’intervention est invasive, plus le taux est élevé. La prise en charge de ces complications nécessite des équipes médicales expérimentées.

La toute grande majorité des pathologies de la colonne vertébrale sont dégénératives. Cela signifie qu’il s’agit d’un vieillissement naturel ou prématuré des articulations de la colonne. La pathologie dégénérative de la colonne concerne essentiellement les disques (discopathie, discarthrose); les facettes vertébrales (arthrose facettaire ou zygapophysaire) ou les articulations uncovertébrales (uncarthrose ou uncodiscarthrose cervicale).
