This resource is a video abstract of a research paper created by Research Square on behalf of its authors. It provides a synopsis that's easy to understand, and can be used to introduce the topics it covers to students, researchers, and the general public. The video's transcript is also provided in full, with a portion provided below for preview:

"Citation rates and journal impact factor are the most widely used measures of influence in the academic world. But true impact extends well beyond the sphere of research. While quantifying this influence has remained incredibly challenging, social media and the alternative metrics its supplies are beginning to change that. In a new study reported in The American Journal of Sports Medicine, researchers looked at how these “altmetrics” correlate with traditional measures of impact in the field of orthopedics. Their findings point to the types of studies and publication venues that attain the greatest reach. The authors of the study analyzed 496 articles published across five high-impact journals in 2016: The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery; Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research; Acta Orthopaedica; Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy; and The American Journal of Sports Medicine..."

The rest of the transcript, along with a link to the research itself, is available on the resource itself.

What is a goldfinch, you ask? Of course it is a beautiful bird, but it is was also an Iowa history magazine for young people. Published quarterly by the State Historical Society of Iowa from 1975 to 2000, each issue had a theme (such as immigrants) and included articles, games, and fiction. The University of Iowa Libraries has digitized all of these back issues and visitors can scroll through all of them from this site. Visitors might do well to start by looking at the issues titled "Health in Iowa" and "Traveling Entertainment." Educators might consider these works as a model for teaching young people about history as each issues is well-curated and contains a mix of visual materials and thoughtful text.

The h-index (sometimes called the Hirsch index or Hirsch number) is one of the several research indices which is used to measure the productivity and impact of of a researcher/ research group/ institution. It’s an index which increases on the basis of citations and number of papers continuously with the passage of time. It is the major benchmark used by the employers for selection/recruitment and/ or assessment of Researchers.
This e-module will let you know all about the h index: What, How, Who, why......about h index will be answered here. In the very next video we will cover how to identify h index of a researcher in various platforms.
