This podcast from Saarland University offers challenging listening opportunities for upper intermediate to advanced learners and fascinating topics to do with the English language and culture. Published bi-weekly, with a growing archive of nearly 100 episodes, the podcast can be used in the context of traditional, e-learning, or blended learning courses as well as self-study approaches.

Course Sequences
Spanish IV aims at developing and improving student's oral and written communication through the continued study of the language, literature and culture of Spain, Latin America and Hispanic communities in the United States. It also seeks to improve students' ability to read and appreciate literary and non-literary texts in Spanish, deepening this way students' awareness and understanding of the cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world. The course is organized by themes based on contemporary social, political and cultural issues of Spanish-speaking societies such as: cultural identity, the changing roles of women and family, economic development and its effects on cultural heritage and environment, and the individual's rights in the political system.

Short videos with illustrations, utilizing beginning Spanish vocabulary. Giving students visuals to associate with the vocab words learned during instruction.

The participants in this seminar will dive into learning basic conversational Italian, Italian culture, and the Mediterranean diet. Each class is based on the preparation of a delicious dish and on the bite-sized acquisition of parts of the Italian language and culture.  A good diet is not based on recipes only, it is also rooted in healthy habits and in culture. At the end of the seminar the participants will be able to cook some healthy and tasty recipes  and to understand and speak basic Italian.

collaborative effort by ESU #16, ESU #15 and area schools. The program is funded by a
FLAP (Foreign Language Assistance Program) grant.

The project design was developed by a team of high school Spanish teachers. Known
as the WLLC team (World Language Learning Community) team these teachers have
worked together for several years to improve the teaching strategies in language
education for area schools. They have all participated in various professional
development opportunities, including Teaching Proficiency through Reading and
Storytelling (TPRS) with Susan Gross and Karen Rowan, Comprehensible Input Reading
Strategies with Jason Fritze and Literacy Strategies delivered by staff from Nebraska
Department of Education, World Languages Department.
