Arabalicious is a website full of resources for teachers of Arabic, run by Taoufiq Cherkaoui. The website includes PowerPoints available for download on concepts such as telling time, fruits and vegetables, culture, and basic greetings, to name a few. Worksheets to go along with the PowerPoints are also available for free download. The website further includes pictures that are available with the author's permission and some postings on available jobs for Arabic instructors as per 2012.

In this interdisciplinary seminar, we explore a variety of visual and written tools for self exploration and self expression. Through discussion, written assignments, and directed exercises, students practice utilizing a variety of media to explore and express who they are.

This course examines representations of race, class, gender, and sexual identity in the media, with a particular focus on new media and how digital technologies are transforming popular culture. We will be considering issues of authorship, spectatorship, (audience) and the ways in which various media content (film, television, print journalism, blogs, video, advertising) enables, facilitates, and challenges these social constructions in society.

This workshop is designed to introduce students to different perspectives on politics and the state of the world through new visualization techniques and approaches to interactive political gaming (and selective 'edutainment'). Specifically, we shall explore applications of interactive tools (such as video and web-based games, blogs or simulations) to examine critical challenges in international politics of the 21C century focusing specifically on general insights and specific understandings generated by operational uses of core concepts in political science.

Lecture Objective: Introduce students to the price system - how markets connect to one another and form a sophisticated global network that is constantly adjusting based on price signals. We use a Valentine’s Day analogy to illustrate key points.

The lesson incorporates a few MRU videos from MRU's Principles of Microeconomics video course. We also mix in discussion prompts, exercises, practice questions, and pre- and post-class assignments. Finally, we provide supplementary resources such as additional data sources, relevant news articles and blog posts, and an episode of Planet Money.

What is Marginal Revolution University (MRU)?

Many of us can remember our first great economics teacher who fundamentally changed how we see the world. At MRU, we try and deliver that experience to millions worldwide through video.

Founded as a nonprofit in 2012 by George Mason University economics professors Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok, MRU is building the world’s largest online library of free economics education videos -- currently weighing in at more than 800 videos.

Mixxer offers language partners across the globe for free via Skype. The website is set up to help parties who would like to learn each other's language connect for language exchange sessions. Users simply have to register and log in and they can search for conversation partners from across the globe. The site also allows users to maintain and share blogs in order to practice written elements of the language they are studying. Teachers can organize group sessions for their students.

In this course students will visit the past through cookbooks to learn about what foodstuffs and technologies were available and when, and how religious and nutritional concerns dictated what was eaten and how it was cooked. Students will also learn about the gender dynamics of culinary writing and performances and the roles people played in writing and cooking recipes.
