This is the companion laboratory manual to the OER text Semiconductor Devices: Theory and Application. Coverage begins at basic semiconductor devices (signal diodes, LEDs, Zeners, etc.) and proceeds through bipolar and field effect devices. Applications include rectifiers, clippers, clampers, AC to DC power supplies, small and large signal class A amplifiers, followers, class B amplifiers, ohmic region FET applications, etc. Mirror site: http://www.dissidents.com/resources/LaboratoryManualForSemiconductorDevices.pdf

This course is an introduction to music recording and audio production from both a practical and a theoretical perspective. Learn about the physical nature and human perception of sound, how it is transformed to and from electrical signals by means of microphones and loudspeakers, and how it can be creatively modeled through mixing consoles, signal processors, and digital audio workstations. The course covers making informed choices about microphone selection and positioning, and various editing, mixing, and mastering techniques.

Through this lesson students learn how AM radios work through basic concepts about waves and magnetic fields. Waves are first introduced by establishing the difference between transverse and longitudinal waves, as well as identifying the amplitude and frequency of a given waveform. Students then learn general concepts about magnetic fields, leading into how radio waves are created and transmitted. Several demonstrations can be performed in order to help students better understand these concepts. The goal of this lesson is for students to understand how the AM radios built during the associated activity function.
