One of the most difficult issues for educators, when faced with a copyright problem, is simply knowing where
to begin -- which parts of the legal rules and doctrines apply to the specific problem? To deal with this uncertainty, we suggest working through the following five questions, in the order they are presented. They are simple questions, but they are not easy to answer; by working through them in order, it is possible to identify which of the parts of copyright law apply to the specific problem or fact pattern that you need to address.

This openly licensed whitepaper is all about how scholars own and use intellectual property. Thus, it covers copyright, patent, and trademark laws and explains how scholars on a university campus can engage with their own rights and the rights of others. It covers, among other things, university IP policies, the work made for hire doctrine, basic intellectual property, joint ownership of works, open access, licensing, fair use, and more. This is a great primer to discuss the legalities of academic scholarship on university campuses.

University Physics is a three-volume collection that meets the scope and sequence requirements for two- and three-semester calculus-based physics courses. Volume 1 covers mechanics, sound, oscillations, and waves. Volume 2 covers thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, and Volume 3 covers optics and modern physics. This textbook emphasizes connections between between theory and application, making physics concepts interesting and accessible to students while maintaining the mathematical rigor inherent in the subject. Frequent, strong examples focus on how to approach a problem, how to work with the equations, and how to check and generalize the result.
