Acquiring the accessible formats a learner needs is part of a multi-step decision-making process. By prioritizing accessibility, access barriers for learners with disabilities will be minimized when materials are acquired. In cases where inaccessible materials have been selected, alternative forms - accessible formats - of those materials will have to be acquired for learners who need them. Examples of accessible formats include audio, braille, large print, tactile graphics, and digital text conforming with accessibility standards.

This is a scaffolded group/collaborative activity within a unit of study on persuasive writing. Students would have already learned what claims, reasons, and evidence are in a previous lesson before participating in this activity. As a group of 4-5 students work together, they will decide which resources would be best to survive a zombie apocalypse. They would then need to compose statements of claim and reasoning for those items and complete some research as well. There is an option to allow students to create posters to present to the class as their final assignment.

7) Intended Curriculum Learning Outcomes
• Students will use the internet to answer some questions about the text Vincent Van Gogh: The Bedroom.
• Students will discuss their understanding of the text in pairs/with the whole class.
• Students will watch the virtual tour Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles.
• Students will discuss what they visualize in the virtual tour.
• Students will read a text with a detailed description of the bedroom.
• Students will watch the virtual tour again and check if the written description in the text matches with the images from the virtual tour.
• Students will have to make corrections in the text when images do not correspond to the text.
• Students will discuss about their findings in pairs.
• Students will be divided into small groups of three. They will record a podcast to describe the virtual tour with their own words. In their recordings, they will have to insert some extra or wrong information about the virtual tour.
• Different groups will have to listen to the podcasts and identify the non-corresponding information.

8) Instructional Activities
Teacher will provide instructions on how to develop the activities and the necessary materials and help for the accomplishemnts of the activities (15 minutes)
Students are given time to complete the lesson activities. (35 minutes)

"Focus on 'Henry V'" is a peer-reviewed, multimedia, digital Open Educational Resource co-authored and co-produced by faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates on the innovative digital publishing platform Scalar. Chapters include guides to early printed editions, sources, and performance and cinematic histories of the play, as well as teaching resources and in-depth case-studies of particular scenes. All chapters include rich multimedia and audio recordings of body text and image captions. In addition to a traditional Table of Contents, the digital book allows users to navigate the materials through multiple pathways and visualizations. In this way the book offers not only a cutting-edge, renewable OER for college and K-12 teachers but also a model for maximizing the affordances of the digital medium.

When to teach this lesson on facial expressions?This is a speaking lesson plan that is great to use to introduce facial expressions. Facial expressions are important to study as they provide non-verbal cues and information. They can provide nearly as much information as spoken words do. They can be difficult to understand but when understood students can remain confident when interacting with others in English. This is a great lesson to introduce to upper-intermediate students that have been looking to develop a deeper understanding of English vocabulary in conversational contexts.What will students learn in this lesson? This is a speaking lesson though it contains new vocabulary words. There is no reading activity in this lesson but there are several questions prompts that introduce a variety of facial expressions. Students will learn about them and discuss why they are important as well as different ones people use. They will also learn about different facial expressions that are associated with different emotions and feelings. This Lesson Plan was created by Joanna Pruitt as part of the 2020 ESU-NDE Remote Learning Plan Project. This original lesson is for classroom use; however, there is a virtual option as well. Educators worked with coaches to create Remote Learning Plans as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The attached Lesson Plan is designed for Grades 9-12 English Language Arts students; however, this could also be used as a Social Studies project as well. Students will evaluate credible sources through research on genocides post World War II after completing a novel unit covering the Holocaust. Students will also create scrapbooks using summarizing, citation, informative writing, textual evidence, caption writing, and persuasive writing. Students will also be expected to demonstrate oral communication skills as they have to present their projects to the class. Students will use background knowledge to clarify text and also gain a deeper understanding by using relevant evidence from a variety of sources to assist in analysis and reflection of informative text.

Listening is the least emphasized mode of communication. As such, it deserves a more thorough treatment. Upon scanning the OER landscape to determine existing opportunities to learn about listening, it was discovered most are devoted to the practical skills of listening. However, much can be learned by learning about the theories and research of listening.Therefore, this module is intended to serve as either a stand-alone learning module on listening or a more advanced module that can be added to other more practically-oriented modules.  This lesson is designed for a 90-minute period at the high school level for a dual language Heritage or Spanish Language Arts class. However, it could easily be divided into sections or modified for middle school students or advanced Spanish world language students. In this lesson, students explore how identity is formed through various life influences and analyze the cause/effect relationship between their personal identity and significant influences in their lives. Students will explore the topic through the RadioAmbulante podcast “Sisters” and the painting “Las dos Fridas” by Frida Khalo. Students will practice metalinguistic awareness and develop their translanguaging skills through explicit instruction on the use of transitional phrases related to cause and effect in English and Spanish. Then students will use these phrases to engage in conversations with their peers to discuss how the different influences in their lives have shaped their identities. Finally, students will produce a written summary of the relationship between the primary influences in their lives and the primary characteristics of their identities.

This lesson is designed for a 90-minute period at the high school level for a dual language Heritage or Spanish Language Arts class. However, it could easily be divided into sections or modified for middle school students or advanced Spanish world language students. In this lesson, students build on their analysis from lesson 1 to consider how the influences in their lives have formed their identity and how they can ensure that the influences in their future lead them toward their goals. First students explore how people’s identities are impacted by context through an analysis of the influences and dominant aspects of their identity in three familiar contexts. They then analyze the poem “A Julia de Burgos”, the values represented in the poem, and their own values. Next, they analyze the painting “La creación de las aves” by Remedios Varo to see how it is possible for a person's identity to fully align with their values. Finally, students analyze how past and current influences in their lives have made them who they are and consider what future influences will help them to achieve a future self that aligns with their personal values, and present this analysis verbally to their classmates.

This is an intermediate integrated-skills module for English language learners. The module has three chapters on the theme "People and Places," which is equivalent to approximately 4 weeks of material for a 9 unit community college course.
